Abstract
A practical course for learning output techniques with personal computers is presented. This course, named as "Basis of data handling", is programmed for freshmen of department of mechanical systems engineering in Musashi Institute of Technology intended for teaching basic output techniques required for engineers. Topics covered include : preparation of reports for experiments, handlings of figures and tables, engineering ethics, data gathering utilizing university library, technical writing, concept of significant digits, preparation for presentation. This paper reports our attempt of the program and its evaluation.
