Abstract

It is well known that fatigue damage accumulates around T-junctions of piping system where two kinds of fluid with different temperatures are mixed. Since there are a large number of T-junction, the simple method for evaluating the fatigue damage derived from this phenomenon is greatly important for both design and maintenance stages. The method proposed by Tovo easily evaluates approximate damage, and evaluates upper and lower limits of the damage at the same time. In this paper, Tovo's method is used for evaluating the damage due to this phenomenon, and the applicability of this method is discussed.
