Abstract

This paper discusses the requirements for extending routing protocols to realize IP+Photonic multi-layered networking under the Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching (GMPLS) controller. This paper also proposes dynamic optical-path generation algorithms and evaluates their impact on the performance of the IP+Photonic multi-layered GMPLS network comprising label-switching routers with integrated packet and lambda switching capability. Then, the optical label-switched path (O-LSP) Creation First (OCF) strategy is elucidated, which provides excellent throughput in high network capacity.
